This past weekend I made my way mid morning to 49th Avenue and Main Street by transit. I had read online that last years Vancouver Vaisakhi Parade attracted 100,000 spectators so I thought it best to get onto the local transit system rather than struggling for parking adjacent to the route area which started at 800 Ross Street, moved south on Ross Stree to SE Marine Drive, then west to Main Street, north to 49th Avenue and then returned to the Ross Street Temple.

Definitely pleased I left my car at home to take advantage of our local transit system. Not being a regular transit user I learned the transit convenience...simply a combination of bus, fast transit and my feet to walk to the parade route as it was a beautiful day to walk!

Vaisakhi is a Sikh festival celebrating the establishment of Khalsa. At Vancouver's Vaisakhi I observed Christy Clark's presence and learned Justin Trudeau was present as well. A plethora of free Indian food, music, dancing and vibrate sari colors was found along the parade route.

Saturday, April 19th is Surrey's Vaisakhi Parade which I hope to make time to attend. Definitely making my way by transit. All day Saturday, All zones Adult Price ticket is $2.75. My recent transit experience was so mindless to the Vancouver Vaisakhi Parade that along the way I dropped in at a FareDealer location to pick up a booklet of 10 tickets ~ FareSaver Tickets saving 24%! Am keen to use the transit more often.
