January house shoppers

Kelowna area home sales activity is typical for the first month of the year~ a lower number of sales likely improving in the months ahead.

According to Okanagan Mainline Real Estate Board (OMREB) statistics, Kelowna single family residential MLS sales in January were down -6.67% to 70 home purchases from January 2011 while West Kelowna was up +15.38% to 30 transactions.

Both sides of Okanagan Lake offered January house buyers more house selection to choose from than same month last year.  This January active listings were up +3.1% in Kelowna (898) and +6.63% West Kelowna (434).

Kelowna's single family residential median sale price of $447,500 is up +11.88% from January 2011 and West Kelowna's $399,100 is down -9.60%.
