Kelowna home sales drop

Kelowna home sale activity trend is not other communities across Canada. Existing-home sales fell 9.5 per cent in May from the previous month as Canada's housing market began to wind down from near-record activity as new mortgage rules had their first full month in effect. Sales totalled 37,576 on a seasonally adjusted basis, down from 41,502 in April, because of declines in Vancouver, Toronto, and Ottawa, the Canadian Real Estate Association said.

Kelowna monthly home sale activity numbers for the first five months of 2010 exceeded each months totals for 2009. However as 2010 unfolds the current market trend is indicating total monthly sales are lessening not increasing (which is generally characteristic of Kelowna's housing market - "warm weather - increased sale activity").
