On the hunt for fun Easter activities?

Easter weekend approaches and I for one, am looking forward to a long weekend. Of course Easter represents one of the Highest Holiday’s in the Christian faith, but it has also taken on other meanings, becoming a symbol of the arrival of spring, a time for families to come together. Of course it is also a time for the children to welcome the Easter Bunny into their backyards and hideaway’s hunting for those illustrious Easter eggs.

I have fond memories, of Easter. Running in the yard with my best dress on, trying not to get grass stains in fear of what my Grandma would say. An early dinner of smoky ham and sweet peas and usually a few twilight hours on the porch listening to my Dad and Uncles spin tall tales. It was always a weekend for family, relaxing, and a bit too much chocolate. I hope that you and your family enjoy this long weekend together. If you are looking for ideas to get out and about and enjoy some of the local festivities look no further! I have put together a list below of what is happening in and around our neighbourhoods.  No matter your faith, or how you celebrate Easter there are many wonderful events to partake in all over the lower mainland.

I will leave you today with a favorite and simple spring time poem written by an elementary school teacher for her students.  I hope that all of you enjoy the long weekend ahead and the months of spring that lay in wait to be discovered.

It Must Be Spring
Hush, Can you hear it?
The rustling in the grass,
Bringing you the welcome news
Winter's day is past.
Soft, Can you feel it?
The warm caressing breeze,
Telling you the sticky buds
Are bursting on the trees.
Look, Can you see them?
The primrose in the lane,
Now you must believe it -
Spring is here again.
